Big Ultrasound

Friday is the big day! We find out what we are having and have decided we aren't going to tell anyone. Just kidding!! There is no way I could keep that a secret. We are way too excited. So just for fun I added a widget for people to vote and see what people think we are having. We'll update on Friday!!

Sledding

Bodee called to invite Brook to go sledding Friday afternoon and she was so excited. She loves playing with Bodee, but she really loves her uncle Ryan. She was teasing me the other night and told me her name was Uncle Ryan. So, when we showed up to play Brook was pretty excited. She had been couped up in the house for the past week with strep throat and so we were once again under quarantine. Uncle Ryan saddled up the horses and pulled them through the field across from his house. I wish my camera picked up sound better, cause Brook and Bodee were both laughing the entire time, but my video didn't get it very good. Brook loved sledding and playing with the dogs. She even renamed Brutus. She calls him Booger. I'm not sure where she came up with that one. Brook keeps telling me she wants to go sledding again, so hopefully we'll be able to go again soon.

Tangled

I took Brook to the movie Tangled tonight. We met up with Stephanie and her kids. I have to say it was a pretty entertaining movie. I was laughing quite a bit. I had to laugh at Brook though cause every time someone would laugh she'd look at me and say, "What's so funny?" with a totally puzzled look on her face. She did laugh at a few parts of the movie that weren't so funny but to each their own, right? Anyways, on the way home I didn't expect her to be tired at all because she has turned into a little night owl. She got pretty quiet and I was talking to her with no response so I turned on the dome light and she glared at me and said, "Mom!! Turn off that light! I'm trying to sleep here!" So, turn off the light I did. And as soon as the light went out, so did Brook. What a character!

16 Weeks

We have made it to the 16 week mark for this pregnancy. I had a Dr.'s appointment on Tuesday and everything was looking great. He said the baby had a nice strong heartbeat and of course that was a relief to hear. We scheduled the ultrasound for February 9th to find out the sex of the baby and we can hardly wait. Cole and I have had a hard time coming up with names so hopefully knowing what we are having will help out in the decision process. But we have plenty of time for coming up with a name, so I'll try not to worry about that.

Christmas in the New Year

Due to Cole's crazy travel schedule, his folks came down to celebrate Christmas with us New Year's Day. It was such a nice day. Brook was so excited to see her grandparents and of course to open more presents, which they gave her plenty of. We visited and went to lunch and then for a drive around the valley. It was a nice escape since Brook and I had been sick and been housebound for the last few days.

She was bound and determined to carry this all by herself...

Smith Family Christmas

After opening our gifts and getting ready for the day, we headed up to Grace for the Smith Family Christmas party. We got there around 11:00 and waited for the rest of the clan to show up. We had our gift exchange and played games and had such an enjoyable time. I thought I would show you part of the gift we gave to my parent's to open.

So, I guess this is our official announcement to all our family and friends that Brook is going to be a big sister. The baby is due June 24 and we couldn't be more excited. We have about a month until our ultrasound to tell the sex so we'll keep you posted.

Christmas Day

This has to be the quietest I have ever experienced in my whole life. It was just Cole, Brook and I to open our presents. Brook woke up around 6 that morning but Cole had a reaction to the Novocaine from his root canal and was up sick most of the night. I put Brook back in bed with us, but she was ready to open her presents. Finally, around 7 I convinced Cole to roll out of bed and lay on the couch so Brook could start opening her presents. It was a fury of paper flying through the house. I was laughing at how excited she got over every present. She even got excited over what Cole and I got. She loved what Santa brought her and she must have been a good girl cause she got a grundle of toys. It was so much fun watching her enjoy Christmas morning. Here a few pictures of the chaos.

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, Brook helped me make sugar cookies. She loved putting the sprinkles on them and was making quite a mess. We had to laugh when she tried to sweep up what sprinkles she had spilled and put them on the cookies. No worries though, Cole was quick to jump into action and the second-hand sprinkles weren't used. After baking cookies Brook opened her Christmas Eve jammies and then we went outside to spread the reindeer food. Brook loved throwing the reindeer food all over the snow and she kept telling me she had glueter (glitter) all over her hands. After getting all cleaned up from the "glueter", Brook finished the rest of the cookies and we put her to bed trying to get her excited for Christmas morning.

Santa's Lap

I was a little apprehensive about taking Brook to see Santa this year. Last year she screamed bloody murder and I was afraid she was a little bit traumatized. So, I decided I would really talk Santa up. I told her if she was a good little girl he would bring her toys and candy, and that all she had to do was sit on his lap and tell him what she wanted. Well, that was just what she did. We got to Santa's Photo Village in the mall and she could hardly wait. She ran up to Santa and jumped on his lap while another little boy was already there. Luckily, it was Raquel Kap and Tugg so I knew she would just laugh it off. When it was finally her turn, she climbed up on his lap and starting talking away. She let him know that she wanted a puppy for Christmas, all the while she was twirling his beard in her hand. I couldn't believe how long she stayed and talked with him and neither could he. He laughed and asked how old she was and said he's never had a kid, her age, that excited to see him before.

Toe Socks

Our family has a tradition of making Christmas Toe Socks for each member of the family. I have been wanting to get ours done but time and money always seemed to get away from me when it was the holiday season. Well, this year I was bound and determined to get them done. I love how they turned out and Brook loves to look at them. They will definitely be a fun decoration to put out every year.
