Rawlins, Wyoming

As promised I said I would get pictures of our "shoe box" for everyone to see. Right now Cole is working for NAES Power rebuilding a substation in Sinclair. It's about 6 miles from Rawlins. So far Rawlins has been a pretty interesting place to live. The closest shopping is about 2 hours any direction. So far we have ventured to Casper, Cheyenne, and Rock Springs in search of "supplies". The one thing that we both really like about Rawlins though is the wildlife. You can see deer wandering the streets and there are antelope everywhere. Not in town so much, but all along the freeway.

Our "pet" deer. This doe hangs out in our yard and we see her almost every day.

Cheyenne Frontier Days

We decided since we didn't know anything about the area around Rawlins that we would head to Cheyenne for the weekend and go to the rodeo. I have got to tell you this was the funnest rodeo I have ever been to. Between the Navy Leap Frogs (parachuters) and the constant changing of events and entertainment, you didn't have time to get bored. The rodeo was about 4 hours long, but you wouldn't have known it. It was soo much fun we are definitely going to go again.

Splish-Splash

A few days before Cole, Brook, and I loaded up for Rawlins, my family got together for a little rendezvous at the reservoir. I don't have a lot of pictures of Brooklyn because she slept almost the whole time we were there. Although, what little time she spent in the water she loved.

Megan giving Anson, Carter, and Cooper a little push. By the way, isn't she the cutest?!

Trying to relax but the boys kept sneaking up and splashing grandma.

4th of July

For the 4th we spent a few days with Cole's family. His Grandma Betty and Grandpa John (Dan's parents) came over from Washington for a visit and to see Brooklyn for the first time. I found out while we were there that Brooklyn and Grandpa John share birthdays and he is so proud of that. I reallly enjoyed meeting Cole's grandparents and they made me feel like I had always been a part of the family. I can't wait until we get to see them again.

Lineman Rodeo

We went to Salt Lake this weekend to support Cole in his annual lineman rodeo. He did so well in all but 1 of his events. But I'm blaming the wind on that last one. He had to change out a fuse from the ground with a 30 foot pole, maybe longer, and the wind was blowing like crazy. So obviously it was hard to get a good time in that event. Anyhow, Cole's parents came down and we all had such a nice day. We went to lunch and to Callister's and just enjoyed our day off. Brooklyn was so good during the rodeo. She slept almost the whole time so we didn't get to try on her little hard hat until we got back to Jeff and Janet's. All in all, it was a nice weekend, but I'm glad to be home.

Crawling!!

It has been a while since I took the time to really update the blog. Since then Brooklyn has started crawling and is into everything. She has already gotten her first fat lip from the table, because crawling wasn't enough for her. She decided that now she needs to pull herself up to stand. On EVERYTHING!!! She has been so funny. If she gets too close to something she knows she's not supposed to and you tell her no, she puts out her bottom lip, lays face down on the floor and cries. It's too funny!

Pierced Ears

My poor, sweet, unsuspecting little princess.

Brynlee keeping a close eye on the ear piercing. She was trying to talk Steph into letting her get her ears pierced even after watching Brooklyn get hers done.

Ow!!

Last week, I took Brooklyn into Logan and got her ears pierced. It wasn't nearly as traumatic as I had thought it might be. She cried for just a second and then was fine. She has played and laughed ever since like it never happened. We got her birthstones for her earrings and they are so cute.

Bath Time Babies

Brooklyn absolutely loves her bath time. We went and spent four days at Stephanie's and while we were there she loved playing in the tub with her cousin Hallie who is about ten months older than Brooklyn.

Cheesecake....Yummy!

I attempted to make my first ever cheesecake, from scratch that is. It was for my sister, Stephanie's birthday. She wouldn't let me take pictures of her, but I do have some of the yummy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake I made. I would say it was a definite success.

The Birthday Boy

My dad's birthday was on April 17th. I tried to fix him his favorite dinner but he said he wanted whatever was easiest, maybe a bowl of cold cereal. I did, however, make his favorite, angel food cake. He is so giving and always thinking of others, even when the day is all about him. I love my dad and the great example he has always been to me. He has taught me more than he will ever know. I look back and always think, I wish I would have listened to him more often. He was always right when giving advice, although I didn't listen due to my complete stubbornness! I love you dad! You are the best the best a girl could ever ask for!

Weekend at the Wakefield's

Cole is always a big help when we go to his parents house, but he is also a turd and wouldn't let me take a picture of him. So all I have is this goofy one. Ha ha the joke's on you Cole!!

It's been about a month ago, but we spent a weekend at Cole's parents' house to try and help Dan (Cole's dad) out after his neck surgery and to let them see how Brooklyn is growing so fast. She loved every minute of it. Brooklyn loved their dog Gunner and would kick and giggle every time he got near her. We had so much fun visiting and getting out of town.

Best Friends

Brooklyn loves when her cousin Bodee (Ryan's little boy) comes up to play with her. She tries so hard to keep up with him and wants to be able to run along just like he does. Bodee is so cute with her I just love it when they can get together.

Such a Big Girl!!

Brooklyn is growing so fast and is such a wonderful little spirit in our lives. She reminds me daily how fortunate I am to have such a beautiful and healthy little girl. Brooklyn is sitting up on her own now and really loves to play with balls, which is okay with me. You gotta start 'em out young!! ;)

Blessing Day

Cole blessed Brooklyn on Saturday the 28th. It was such a special day for our family and for Brooklyn. Cole gave her the most beautiful blessing and I am so proud of him and the example he is to me and all around him. Bishop Wilker and Janice were there among much of my family. Unfortunately Cole's family couldn't make it. Camron is out of town working in Missouri and Dan has to have surgery tomorrow on his neck. But we want everyone to know how much we appreciate all of their support and can't wait to see everyone when we go through the temple next month.

Cabelas

We took a little family outing and went to Cabelas to show Brooklyn the fish and all of the animals. We got there just in time for the Cabelas staff members to start feeding the fish so they were all really rambunctious. Brooklyn loved the fish and kept trying to grab them through the glass. It was so much fun to watch her get excited and she loved the atmosphere of Cabelas. There was definitely a lot to keep her entertained. She loved seeing all the animals and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the stuffed moose that she could sit on.
